The following general site guidelines do not fall under the normal rules governing The Site. However, they are important to help keep The Site and it’s discussion forums organized, informative, and above all, fun.
Be careful when you write.
Written text has no inflection, and as such you should be careful how you write any message, as interpretation will vary from person to person. Consider taking advantage of the built-in “emoticons” to add expression to your messages.
Do not give out your password to anyone.
While this is good general practice for anything related to the Internet, it always deserves reiterating. Giving out any passwords to The Site could jeopardize your personal information, and/or sensitive information that only members are privileged to.
Try to stay on topic at all times.
Try not to drift off topic during a thread conversation. Please don't join in (or hi-jack) a discussion thread with off topic questions or comments, even if others have. Instead, try posting a new discussion thread and posting a link to that new thread. Off topic posts may get deleted, and discussion threads that get excessively out of hand can (and often will) be closed.
Post similar questions together.
If you have several questions, it's better to ask them all in a single discussion thread rather than creating individual discussion threads to ask each. Make use of the modify feature to add additional information or to modify the existing information.
Try not to post duplicate threads.
Use the forum’s search function to check if the topic you wish to post already exists in the forum - it's very possible someone has already asked your question. The forum search function is located at the top of every forum for convenience.
Use short, concise discussion thread titles.
When posting a new discussion thread, it's a good idea to use a short, yet informative title. That way members and visitors of the Forum quickly know what your thread is about.
Try not to double-post.
If you post additional identical replies/posts by mistake, please delete the duplicate posts by clicking the remove topic link at the bottom of each. Where you need to add more information on to your original reply, click modify at the top right hand corner of your post and add the additional information instead of clicking reply and creating two posts.
